We are now in the 10th year that Afghanistan has been occupied in an illegal war by Canadian and NATO-led forces. Civilian deaths rise every year, and over 30% of those figures are Afghan children. With the eye-opening “Kill Team” story and the release of graphic photographs and video footage of soldiers proudly posing with Afghan corpses, it has become evident that Coalition forces deliberately target and murder Afghan civilians. This is how the military industrial complex operates but these war crimes MUST STOP!
The so-called military solution in Afghanistan has FAILED.
A clear majority of Afghans want the troops to leave their country. A clear majority of Canadians want to bring the troops home.
We call on the Canadian community, especially the Afghans in the GTA, to come out, take a stand and make their voices heard loud and clear!

UN Blames Florida Pastor for Violence in Mazar-e-Sharif

The UN Chief's envoy to Afghanistan, Staffan De Mistura, strongly criticised the Florida pastor for burning a copy of the Koran which sparked violent demonstrations in Afghanistan.

On Friday, hundreds took to the streets in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif to protest at the Koran burning in a Florida church.
Some protesters who were reportedly armed killed 7 foreign workers of the UN, that followed strong condemnation by the Afghan government, the UN Secretary General and the US President.
Mr Staffan De Mistura blamed the violence on the Florida pastor, describing the burning of the holy Koran as "insane and totally deprecable gesture by one person".
I don't think we should be blaming any Afghans, we should blame the one who burnt the Koran, he said addressing a news conference in Kabul on Saturday.
Freedom of speech does not mean to offend culture, religion and traditions, he added.
Mr De Mistura reiterated the UN's commitment to continue its assistance to the Afghan people despite the attack on its Mazar office.
"The Secretary General is of the opinion and I am of the same opinion that this should not deter UN presence and activities in this delicate and particularly crucial period, said Mr De Mistura addressing a news conference in Kabul.
The UN has temporarily shifted its staff to Kabul until the office building in Mazar is repaired.
Pastor Wayne Sapp burnt a copy of the Koran in Florida on 20 March, under the supervision of pastor Terry Jones who had last year planned and cancelled a Koran burning ceremony.

4 Suicide Bombers Killed in Attack on Nato Base in Kabul

At least four suicide bombers were killed on Saturday morning as while approaching Camp Phoenix, a Nato base in Kabul, officials said.

The incident happened when four suicide attackers reached near Camp Phoenix on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway near the city with two blowing themselves up, but foreign forces gunned down the other two, Head of Kabul Criminal Investigation Department, Mohammad Zaher told TOLOnews.
One Afghan civilian was also killed in the attack and there were no reports about anyone being wounded, he added.
One of the suicide bombers attacked with small arms before they were both killed, officials said.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.
"I came here to buy something when I heard a blast and firing in the area" an eyewitness told TOLOnews reporter.
Camp Phoenix is a Nato base in eastern part of the Afghan capital where dozens of US soldiers are stationed.
Insurgents have recently increased their activities in different parts of the country.
Foreign and Afghan forces have launched many military operations in the country to clear volatile areas of militants.
The first phase of foreign troops' withdrawal process is to begin in July this year, when Afghan forces are expected to take over security responsibilities of 7 areas.

UN staff killed during protest in northern Afghanistan

Seven foreign employees working for the UN office were killed in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif on Friday by some demonstrators who had staged a protest against the recent burning of the Koran by a pastor in the United States.

                            The protest began peacefully after people left Friday prayers at the Blue Mosque

Head of the Unama's regional office in Mazar is said to be wounded.
One of the foreign workers killed is a woman, local officials have said.
Four demonstrators were killed and 24 others were hurt in the incident.
The demonstrators had reportedly gathered in front of the UN office, but some of them who are believed to have been armed broke into the office.
"Seven Unama foreign workers and four demonstrators were killed and 24 other protesters were hurt in the incident, a Spokesman to the Afghan Ministry of Interior, Zemarai Bashari, told TOLOnews.
A local police spokesman, Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai, confirmed that the demonstrators set fire to the UN office in protest against the recent Koran burning in the US.
Police has surrounded the area and 4 suspicious demonstrators have so far been arrested.
Meanwhile, some people in Herat have also staged a demonstration to protest against the recent Koran burning in the US.
Demonstrators in the western province of Herat condemned the Koran burning, describing it as an insult to all the Muslims in the world.
Head of Herat Provincial Council also said that those responsible for the killing of Afghan civilians should be punished in Afghanistan.

Car knocks down 3 ISAF soldiers, 2 civilians killed
