ATLANTA -- Army Master Sgt. Gregg Curry is set to leave his family on Monday and return to Afghanistan, but first he left them a big gift.
Curry, 47, won $250,000 in the Georgia Lottery Cool Cash instant game just days before deploying.
Curry said he and his wife stopped for water
at the Kwickie Flash on Highway 54 in Fayetteville after working out and
purchased the winning ticket.
“We’re excited. We’re happy,” said Curry.
Curry, a father of three, has spent the last
seven months stationed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan and will serve
an additional five months before his return home.
With his winnings, Curry anticipates paying bills and taking a vacation once his tour is over.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery
Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of Georgia for
education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific
educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program and
Georgia’s pre-K program
