NATO-led forces kill Afghan police officer

An Afghan police official was killed and several suspected militants were detained in separate operations in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said on Friday.
Afghan and coalition forces killed the armed individual while searching for a Haqqani facilitator in Janikhel district of Paktika province. The facilitator allegedly provides support for logistics and operations targeting coalition forces.
Based on multiple reports, the combined force searched a compound in the district, where the armed individual aimed his weapon toward the soldiers. The force engaged the individual and killed him. The security force later determined the individual was an Afghan police officer.
"After securing and clearing the compound, the security force detained numerous suspected insurgents for further questioning," the NATO-led force said in a statement.
In Central Afghanistan, a Taliban leader was captured in Pul-i-Alam, capital of Logar province. The rebel leader was blamed for planning attacks in Pul-i-Alam and Kabul and providing weapons to Taliban and Haqqani fighters.
In Kohmard district of Bamyan, an Afghan civilian turned in a weapons cache to coalition forces. The cache consisted of 36 rocket-propelled grenades, 74 hand-grenades, 20 rifles, 45 fuses, one 107 mm high-explosive rocket, two anti-personnel mines and nine RPG boosters
