Refugees trying to reach safety in Europe get stuck in Greece: Once in Europe, they have to remain in the country they first arrived in. They speak about lack of basic support like housing, clothing and food and daily racist abuse. Not only by fascists like Golden Dawn, but also Greek people – and the police.

قایق پناهجویان در استرالیا غرق شد

یک قایق حامل حدود ۲۰۰ پناهجوی قاچاق، پیش از رسیدن به استرالیا غرق شد.

به گفته مقامات دریایی استرالیا، این قایق در فاصلۀ حدود ۲۰۰ کیلومتری شمال جزیره کریسمس متعلق به استرالیا در اقیانوس هند واژگون شد. جزیره کریسمس خود ۲۶۰۰ کیلومتربا خاک استرالیا فاصله دارد.

تا بحال ۷۳ تن از سرنشینان این قایق نجات یافته اند. هنوز از تابعیت سرنشینان آن اطلاعی در دست نیست.

در سالهای اخیر، شمار فزاینده ای از پناهجویان ایرانی، افغانی و سریلانکائی می کوشند بوسیله قایق از مسیر اندونزی یا سریلانکا خود را بطور غیرقانونی به استرالیا برسانند.

پناهجویان غیرقانونی در استرالیا، به کمپ های پناهندگی منتقل می شوند و گاه سال ها در انتظار روشن شدن وضعیتشان ، در این کمپ ها بسر می برند.

عملیات نجات سرنشینان قایق غرق شده ادامه دارد.

مشکلات مضاعف مهاجران در یونان

یونان در ۲ ماه اخیر شاهد ۲ انتخابات سراسری بوده است و مدت ها است به شدت گرفتار بحران مالی است. فرداد فرحزاد در سفرش به آتن به دیدن شماری از این مهاجران رفته که حالا علاوه بر مشکلات مالی، باید با ترس حملات گروه های نژادپرست هم دست و پنجه نرم کنند.

A video of the attack, recorded secretly by a bystander and uploaded onto the Internet, showed a group of young men, most of them dressed in black, running down a flight of stairs at a metro station and attacking someone. Cries of “No, no” in broken Greek can be heard, though the victim is barely discernible, as well as an exchange between two of the assailants.

“Did you stick the knife in him?” one asks. “I shoved it in all the way,” another responds.

Migrants see rise in racist attacks

Representatives of immigrant groups in Athens have told Kathimerini in the wake of an Egyptian man being seriously beaten by a group of assailants that there has been a spike in the number of attacks on foreigners following the May 6 election, when neo-Nazi Chrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn) vastly increased its share of the vote.

“Things have got worse since the elections,” Reza Gholami, the head of an association of Afghans, told Kathimerini. “There are daily beatings. These guys don’t just want to frighten people, they are hitting to kill. They are hitting on the head, a lot of people are attacking at the same time. Most incidents are not known because immigrants do not notify authorities. They are afraid for their lives or don’t have legal papers or lack the funds to pay the cost of a lawsuit.”

Another immigrant, who wished to remain anonymous, described how attacks take place in the Aghios Panteleimonas district of Athens, where he lives.

“The attacks are carried out by gangs, either on motorbikes or on foot,” he said. “If there is a witness, the attackers start shouting that the victim is a thief.”

An Egyptian fisherman was severely beaten at his home in Perama, near Piraeus, early on Tuesday. A group of assailants entered the house and while three migrants were able to escape their attackers, the 28-year-old was unable to run away and suffered a broken jaw and nose, as well as other injuries, in the attack. Six suspects, including an 18-year-old woman, were arrested later.

Sources close to the victim told Kathimerini that unidentified individuals approached other Egyptians in the area later in the day and warned them that they would suffer reprisals if anyone testified against the suspects.

A Golden Dawn official told Kathimerini that he did not know if the suspects were members of the far-right party.

In a report on Tuesday, the Guardian newspaper quoted Golden Dawn candidate Ilias Panagiotaros as saying, “If Chrysi Avgi gets into Parliament, it will carry out raids on hospitals and kindergartens and it will throw immigrants and their children out on the street so that Greeks can take their place.”

Jerusalem Post reporter attacked

On June 6, 2012, Jerusalem Post reporter Gil Shefler was assaulted in Athens while trying to film a mob attack outside the National Archeological Museum, one of the city’s main tourist attractions.

The incident began around 8 p.m. when a group of about 20 masked men wielding batons started beating refugees, migrants and homeless people in the middle of the street.

Incidents of  migrants stabbed on the streets or at public transport means have increased during the last days, with the latest two attacks to have taken place within 20 minutes. One man from Albania and two men from Poland  fell victims to what it seems to have been ‘racist attacks’.

Eyewitness describe the incredible attack that took place on Thursday night at Neos Kosmos district of southern Athens.

The first victim was an Albanian man who was penetrated with a …sword by attackers on motorcycles outside the elementary school of the area.

Twenty minutes later after the attack and some three kilometers away, two migrants from Poland were attacked with knives. They are also hospitalized but were not able to testify to the police yet.

Last Tuesday, a man from Bangladesh was stabbed by an attacker who was holding a knife inside the Athens Metro in Omonia Square. The attacker managed to flee.

On Monday May 29, a man from Pakistan collapsed at the platform of the Urban Train <Agios Nikolaos> station after he was stabbed.

Perama: One More Racist Attack Against Migrants – One Victim Hospitalized

An organized racist attack took place in the early morning hours of Tuesday, when a group of 20 people,  armed with iron bars, wooden sticks and batons stormed the home where migrants from Egypt have been living. The incident took place in the industrial suburb of Perama, in the southwest of Piraeus.

Private broadcaster Mega TV said that the attackers first beated up a man who was sleeping on the roof of the one storey house. They tried to storm the house four more migrants were sleeping, breaking windows and doors, also the cars of the family parked outside.

One of the victims was transferred to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to MEGA TV, eye-witnesses claimed that the attackers were wearing black blouses and some of them wore masks.

The migrants are from Egypt and work as fishermen. In the house were living one man, owner of a fish-shop,  his three brothers and one  shop-employee, report NewsIt.gr . They been living in Greece for quite some years.

A while after the attack, police detained 6 people at a nearby square.

Six people — five men and one woman — were being questioned by police on Tuesday morning over an attack on a group of migrants living in a home in the industrial suburb of Perama, southwest of Piraeus, in the early hours of the day.

According to police reports, the six suspects attacked the three migrants while they were asleep in the their home at 4 a.m., using bats and other makeshift weapons, and causing significant injuries to one of the victims.

ایران و پاکستان میزبان بیشترین تعداد پناهجویان افغان بوده اند

کمیساریای عالی سازمان ملل متحد در امور پاهندگان اعلام کرده است که شهروندان افغانستان کماکان بیشترین تعداد پناهجویان را در سراسر جهان تشکیل می دهند.

یک گزارش جدید این اداره، تعداد پناهجویان افغان را ۲.۷ میلیون نفر برآورد کرده است.

البته آن عده از افغانهایی که در پاکستان و ایران مهاجر اند اما در دفاتر سازمان ملل متحد به عنوان پناهنده ثبت نشده است، شامل آماری که کمیسیاریای عالی پناهندگان از میزان پناهجویان افغان، ارائه کرده است، نمی شوند.

بعد از افغانستان، عراق، با ۱.۴ میلیون، سومالی با ۱.۱ میلیون و سودان با پنجصد هزار پناه‌جو، بیشترین تعداد متقاضیان پناهندگی در جهان را دارند.

گزارش کمیساریای عالی سازمان ملل متحد براساس آمار سال ۲۰۱۱ تهیه شده است.

در این گزارش آمده است که سال 2011 میلادی، جهان شاهد بیشترین میزان مهاجرت های اجباری در ده سال اخیر بوده است.

براساس آمار منتشر شده در این گزارش، در جریان سال ۲۰۱۱ میلادی، ۴.۳ میلیون نفر در سراسر جهان از محلات اصلی خود بی جا شده اند که از این میان، هشتصد هزار نفر کشورهای خود را ترک کرده و به جمعیت پناهجویان پیوسته اند.

'سی هزار پناهجوی جدید'

افغانستان، در بیش از سی سال اخیر پیوسته با خشونت‌ و بی ثباتی روبرو بوده است.

نخستین گروه های شهروندان افغانستان در زمان اشغال کشورشان از سوی شوروی سابق آواره شدند، بعد هم آغاز جنگ های داخلی گروه های مجاهدین دور دیگری از مهاجرت های اجباری را به همراه داشت.

حاکمیت گروه طالبان در افغانستان نیز شاهد موجی از فرار افغانها از کشورشان بود.

در ده سال اخیر، اگرچه وضعیت در شهرهای افغانستان نسبتا بهتر بوده، اما هنوز افغانها به کشورهای مختلف جهان درخواست پناهندگی می دهند.

کمیساریای عالی ملل متحد در امور پناهندگان در افغانستان می گوید که در سال ۲۰۱۱، از جمله هشتصد هزار نفری که به تازگی در سراسر جهان پناهنده شده اند، بیش از سی هزار نفر، شهروندان افغانستان هستند.

به گفته مسئولان این اداره، بیشتر این افراد در کشورهای اروپایی درخواست پناهندگی داده اند.

گزارشها نشان می دهد که نا امنی و ترس از خشونت های دوامدار، دلیل عمده پناهندگی افغانها در سالهای اخیر بوده، اما دلایل دیگری از جمله مشکلات اقتصادی، نبود سرپناه و کار نیز در این روند نقش مهمی داشته است.

در بسیاری موارد، افغانها برای رسیدن به کشورهای اروپایی و استرالیا، راه های غیرقانونی و پرخطری را انتخاب می کنند که این سفر، در مواردی به قیمت جان شان تمام می شود.
